Episode 16 - Hens

Cleo realized that it was true that business had been slow all summer, but she had managed to cover her overheads. Now school had started again, people were taking time to decide if they wanted to change their lives and were eager to pay a fee for good advice they would never want from a psychiatrist, doctor or clergyman. They felt they could trust Cleo – and they could, of course. Her training as a social worker had helped her to help many,and word had got around.

Being in love is like being drunk, Cleo decided, though she had never been drunk in her life; a social worker surrounded by alcoholics and drug addicts thinks twice about joining the fray.

This novel is probably the most romantic of the series. I make no apology and none for the innuendos. I do not write or read pornography, so the stories are farly harmless. However, I am not writing for children

As the series developed, so did the characters. The entir content is pure invention, however. I wish I had had a relationship like the one between Cleo and Gary, but I didn't and eventually settled for the single life rather than flog a dead horse!

The novels are also crime stories, if arguably more readable for women. For that I make no apology, either. I wrote professionally for school books, but I regard my fiction as fun-fantasy, and it probably entertains me more than anyone else. if anyone actually reads it, that is!

I don't remember ever reviewing this book in pernickety detail, but February 26th sees me taking another close look at one of my novels, the idea being to level out inconsistencies in the 15 novels in the series before - if ever - starting on No 16, which already has part of a synopsis constructed and is champing at the bit! I think Beachut Murders is the longest with over 100 000 wordes, apart from the very first adventure into novel-writing, which is really 2 books in one - or is it 3? That will be the target of my next revision. I've been putting it off, but it's time I went back to te beginning!

As with all revised novels, I am calling the revised chapters EPISODES and sometimes adjusting the length.

I always use *** to indicate a change of scene or to indicate movement between action , dialogue, description and thought processes! I have no idea how other authors write.
